What’s New in GoldMine Premium Edition 2014.1
[IMPORTANT: First Direct Corp. does NOT recommend that our customers upgrade to ANY new major build immediately upon release. We do recommend that you give time for First Direct to apply the build and test it for at least 1 week. We installed GMPE 2014.1 on 4/18/14. This way, if there are issues, we can learn about them before our customers experience them! If you contact First Direct Corp. we will be happy to share our experience and that which we learn from others. At the bottom of this post I am listing things that GoldMine Administrators will want to “notice.”]
GoldMine and Google Apps
GoldMine Premium Edition now includes an integration with Google Apps. This integration provides bidirectional synchronization between your Google Apps calendar and your GoldMine Calendar. Standalone Gmail accounts are not supported at this time. Users must have a Paid Google Apps account.
GoldMine Mobile must be installed to use the Google Apps integration. Once the integration is configured, syncing will occur automatically with no end user action necessary. See GoldMine 2014.1 Help > GoldMine Administrator Guide > Google Apps Integration Administration for set-up information.
Click here for more information about Google Apps.
SEE NOTICE BELOW!
Android Devices Supported by GoldMine Mobile
Starting with GoldMine Mobile 2014.1, Android devices running version 2.3 and above are now supported. This comprises more than 98% of Android devices in use today.
Opportunities in GoldMine Mobile
GoldMine Mobile users can now view and edit basic information for Opportunities that they manage. Also included is the ability to create new Opportunities. Tab detail for opportunities is not included at this time.
*** If you would like a demonstration of any of these new features, or GoldMine Premium overall, feel free to contact First Direct Corp. at 800-935-4386. We offer professional assistance with deployment, customization, and training. ***

NOTICE:
Server Reboot: GMPE 2014 requires .NET 4.5 and will install it during an upgrade or fresh install. .NET 4.5 usually requires a reboot if there are files open that are changed during the .NET install. You can shut down the applications or functions that use these files, but you may or may not want to do this depending on your situation. The important thing to know is that if you choose to allow the GMPE installer to install .NET 4.5 and you opt to not close out any files that will be changed, the GMPE installer will reboot the machine on its own without giving you the option to reboot later. This obviously could cause a problem if you have people actively using server resources. The best way to avoid this is to download and install .NET 4.5 separately and reboot the machine at your convenience. If .NET 4.5 is already installed the GMPE installer will not need to do it and will go right into the GMPE install/update.
Case Email Notification Bug: GoldMine Premium 2014 has a bug with regard to the email bodies on Case notifications. Body in the emails to Users notifying them of a new case re-assigned or escalated to them are lost. We are told this will be address in a future “hot-fix.” (Know issue!)
GoldMine Mobile Opportunities can not be added or opened. (This is a “new” feature that doesn’t work. Great!) No word on whether others are experiencing this or even if FrontRange is aware of it.
Google Apps: So far from our own testing of this particular feature there are serious issues! We are NOT recommending this integration at this time. We will continue to test it and work with the manufacturer to determine what is going on, but until we are satisfied with the functionality between GoldMine’s integration with a Google Apps account calendar I would not use it.
