GO-Global Version 6.3.1.3375 Released!

GO-Global Version 6.3.1.3375 Released!

The latest GO-Global Version 6.3.1.3375 is packed with new features and enhancements designed to improve usability, performance, and manageability. Let’s check out what’s new!

New Features

1. Mix Windows Support

One of the standout features in this release is Mix Windows Support. This enhancement allows users to interleave windows of applications running locally on their client computers with those in a GO-Global session. When users activate an application window within a GO-Global session, only that specific window comes to the foreground, keeping the z-order of other applications unaffected. This streamlined workflow enhances user experience by reducing the clutter of overlapping windows.

2. User and Group-Based Application Publishing

Administrators now have the flexibility to publish applications based on User and Group-Based Application Publishing. This feature enables targeted application access for individual users, groups, and organizational units (OUs), facilitating more personalized user experiences and improved security.

3. Session and Process Search

Finding specific user sessions and processes is now easier than ever with the Admin Console’s new Search button. This feature allows administrators to quickly locate sessions and processes without the hassle of sifting through all active instances across a farm of GO-Global Hosts, saving time and streamlining management tasks.

4. Localization Support

To enhance accessibility, GO-Global now includes Localization Support. Text displayed to end users can be translated into their native languages, covering logon prompts, program windows, and messages from GO-Global clients such as AppController and the GO-Global Web App. This localization ensures a more user-friendly experience for a global audience.

5. GO-Global Health Check Request

With the introduction of the GO-Global Health Check Request, third-party load balancers and monitoring tools can now test the health of GO-Global Hosts by sending healthCheck requests to the Application Publishing Service. This proactive monitoring capability enhances system reliability and uptime.

6. PowerShell API

The new PowerShell API empowers administrators with programmatic monitoring and management of sessions running on GO-Global Application Hosts and Application Host Managers. This feature streamlines administrative tasks and integrates seamlessly with existing automation workflows.

7. New Universal Printer Driver

Version 6.3.1 also introduces a New Universal Printer Driver that significantly enhances print quality and speed while simplifying the printing process for users and administrators. Users running AppController for Windows can access all printer settings without needing drivers installed on GO-Global Hosts. This update alleviates common printing challenges, including:

  • Eliminating the installation of native Windows printer drivers on GO-Global Hosts
  • Avoiding the need for Type 4 printer driver alternatives
  • Simplifying printer driver mapping
  • Reducing configuration efforts on GO-Global Hosts

8. Improved Support for Large Server Farms

Finally, enhancements to the Application Publishing Service in this release improve reliability and reduce memory usage, particularly beneficial for large server farms. This ensures better communication between Application Hosts and Application Host Managers, contributing to overall system performance.

Important Notes

  1. Older GO-Global clients can connect to GO-Global 6.3.1 hosts, but some enhancements and fixes will only be supported with GO-Global 6.3.1 clients. Users should upgrade their clients to version 6.3.1.
  2. When upgrading version 6.2.6 relay environments to version 6.3.1, upgrade the Relay Load Balancer before upgrading any Dependent Hosts.
  3. Upgrading version 6.0 systems using cloud trial licenses to version 6.3 is not supported.
  4. GO-Global 6.3 cannot be used with a lower-version license (e.g., with a version 6.2 license). All cloud subscription licenses have been upgraded to version 6.3. If you are upgrading to GO-Global 6.3 from an earlier version and using an on-premises license, you will need a new version 6.3 license file. Email support@1stdirect.com for file requests.
  5. GO-Global Host 6.3 does not support and will not install on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 10 Enterprise Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) versions other than 1809, and Windows 10 Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) version 1909 and earlier.
  6. Group Policy is now enabled by default. It can be disabled via the Session Startup tab of the Host Options dialog in the Admin Console.
  7. GO-Global manages licenses from the Application Host Manager by default.

Conclusion

With these exciting new features and improvements, GO-Global Version 6.3.1.3375 sets a new standard in remote application access and management.
