GoldMine’s Universal Search tool, which leverages MS SQL full text indexing and searching capabilities, offers “Advanced” settings inside the Universal Search dialogue window that allow you to specify what tables to search by telling it where to “find these items.” It also provides a drop down filter that lets the user select whether to search all records or only the Active Record, a Filter/Group, as well as other limitations. So let’s say you need to search all the emails of a certain record, and you don’t want extraneous results, these features would work perfectly. In addition, you can apply “grid controls” to drop down and filter within the search result based on column selections.
