IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT GOLDMINE AND EMAIL
Starting in June of 2020, major email server hosts such as Google (GSuite & Gmail), AT&T, and Microsoft (for Office 365 & Exchange Online) will change how they handle end user login authentication for POP/SMTP/IMAP protocols. The change ends support for basic login authentication (Username & Password) and moves to a more secure connection authentication method using the OAuth protocol.
If you use GoldMine to send and/or receive emails, you will need to upgrade your GoldMine to a version that supports the more secure authentication (OAuth) protocol. That update will be included in the GoldMine 2020.1 release slated for June of 2020. We will provide notice as soon as it is available.
Note: For GSuite users access to the “Less Secure Apps” (LSA) feature will be turned off in two stages:
- After June 15, 2020 – Users who try to connect to an LSA for the first time will no longer be able to do so. This includes third-party apps that allow password-only access to Google calendars, contacts, and email via protocols such as CalDAV, CardDAV, IMAP, and Exchange ActiveSync (Google Sync). Users who have connected to LSAs prior to this date will be able to continue using them until usage of all LSAs is turned off.
- After February 15, 2021 – Access to LSAs will be turned off for all G Suite accounts.
Please also note: Many email service providers are dropping support for the old TLS 1.0 and 1.1 encryption protocols in favor of the latest TLS 1.2 protocol. Only GoldMine 2018.2 and higher have support for the latest TLS 1.2 encryption protocol. This affects all users of GoldMine on versions prior to GoldMine 2018.2.
